Dave, Ryan Cadaver, and Nicole Ghouled caught an early sneak preview of Robert Rodriguez' adaptation of the classic manga, Battle Angel Alita this past Monday. All three were so enthralled by and impressed with the movie that they had to get together to discuss it for this week's episode of the Needless Things Podcast!
Starting with the manga in 1990 and then the animated adaptation in 1993, the story of this warrior has been inspiring fans for decades. Battle Angel draws from many classic genre styles while retaining a unique voice and style of its own. Those same inspired fans have been curious about a live action adaptation, and when James Cameron announced his intention to create one, things seemed promising.
The production process, however, was a long one. This left many doubting the project would ever truly see the light of day. But then the pieces starting coming together, with the unparalleled Robert Rodriguez as director, Rosa Salazar as the titular cyborg, and perhaps most impressively, Cristoph Waltz as Dr. Ido.
With such a promising team assembled, the ambitious film was a go and is now ready to be unleashed upon the world to inspire a whole new generation!

Watching WWE's Royal Rumble this Sunday? Here are the rules for the Official Phantom Zone Royal Rumble Game!:
*Number 30 ping pong balls 1-30. Trust me – drawing actual balls instead of just picking numbers adds SO MUCH fun!
*Each player draws numbers until they're all gone. If everyone doesn't have the same number, points can be altered to even the odds.
*Each player will need a way to keep track of their points. You earn points through the actions of each Superstar that entered at whichever numbers you drew.
*1 point for each elimination. If multiple Superstars assist in a single elimination, they each get a point. Don't worry – it's fair and easier than using fractions.
*2 points for each of the final four Superstars left in the Rumble
*5 points for the winner of the Rumble

This ain’t Memphis, but that doesn’t mean that the Commentary Team can’t double down on the Double Deuce with this classic 80s action flick! The Irregulars have been clamoring for a Roadhouse Commentary since the beginning, and after establishing that January was a very Swayze month, indeed, it was determined that it was time to not be nice!

Ryan Cadaver stops by the Phantom Zone to discuss the newest entry into whatever the heck Warner Bros. is doing with their DC Comics properties this week!
We all know that Dave and Ryan look upon the DC Extended Universe a bit more favorably than most. While its had its ups and downs, overall it has still produced the most epic DC Comics movies of all time.
While Wonder Woman was a course correction, Aquaman appeared to be a wild, swerving right-angle turn away from dark grittiness and into big, colorful fun. Nobody could be sure how well the film would succeed, but with director James Wan's vision and star Jason Momoa's pecs, it was bound to be something very different.

In an almost Santa Claus-like manner, our friend Chad J. Shonk swooped in to save the holidays with some Star Wars magic in the form of Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure!
In 1984, George Lucas wanted some of that sweet, sweet television revenue but was still smarting from the hideous embarrassment of the Star Wars Holiday Special. So he took the reins himself and oversaw production on an all-new adventure featuring the inhabitants of Endor’s moon.
That’s right – we here at Needless Things can’t go a Christmas season without some good, old-fashioned Star Wars action, so it’s time to sit down and snuggle with the Galaxy’s most lovable little cannibals, the Ewoks!
